Seven dead in Virginia Walmart shooting
A store manager reportedly laughed as he “started cappin” staff members in a break room at a supermarket just as they came on shift.
A store manager has been identified as the gunman who shot dead six people in a supermarket in the US.
Andre Bing reportedly laughed as he roamed the store during the rampage where he killed several of his colleagues before turning the gun on himself.
The mass shooting happened at Walmart store in Chesapeake, close to the city of Norfolk in the US state of Virginia.
Walmart stores are the equivalent of a discount department store with a supermarket attached.
Police said seven people died in the tragedy, including the shooter.

“We were able to find multiple fatalities and multiple injured parties,” Chesapeake Police Department officer Leo Kosinski told reporters at the scene, saying rapid response officers entered the store “immediately” as they arrived.
“We believe it is a single shooter and that single shooter is deceased at this time,” he added.
The City of Chesapeake also said on Twitter that police did “confirm an active shooter incident with fatalities at the Walmart on Sam’s Circle”.
“Our first responders are well-trained and prepared to respond; please give them space to do so,” it added.
Shooter identified
Several media outlets have identified the murderer as overnight manager Andre Bing who was 31.
The murders happened just as the night crew were clocking on at around 10pm on Tuesday.
Chesapeake local news outlet WAVY interviewed a witness who said there were 14 staff members in a break room when the shooting broke out. She said she believed the murders were targeted at other managers.
“It didn’t even look real until you could feel the gun go off,” said the witness, who added the man appeared to be laughing as he wandered around the Walmart store.
On Wednesday, Police said two victims plus the dead shooter were found in a break room, another at the front of the store and three others died in hospital.
‘Started cappin’ people’
One staff member told CNN said he had just left the break room when the man “started cappin’ people in there”.
“That man a coward for that … You kill people ain’t did nothing to you,” he said. “Man, you soft for that.”
One employee recounted the event in a video and alleged the shooter was his manager, however this has not been confirmed by police.

He said: “He blew his brains out and everything. He killed the girl in there and everything.
“He came in and started spraying. I’m sorry for the victims.”
News footage showed a major police presence at the scene, with officer Leo Kosinski saying several officers and investigators were combing through the store and securing the area.
Virginia state Senator Louise Lucas, who represents the region, said she was “absolutely heartbroken that America’s latest mass shooting took place in a Walmart in my district in Chesapeake, Virginia tonight”.
“I will not rest until we find the solutions to end this gun violence epidemic in our country that has taken so many lives,” she said on Twitter.

Walmart released a statement: “We are shocked at this tragic event at our Chesapeake, Virginia store.
“We’re praying for those impacted, the community and our associates. We’re working closely with law enforcement, and we are focused on supporting our associates.”
