Melania Trump provides update on condition after COVID-19 diagnosis

First Lady Melania Trump has provided an update on her condition after she and Donald Trump were diagnosed with COVID-19.

First Lady Melania Trump says she’s “feeling good” after she was diagnosed with coronavirus last week.

The 50-year-old tweeted an update on Tuesday and said she will “continue to rest at home.”

“Thank you for medical staff & caretakers everywhere, & my continued prayers for those who are ill or have a family member impacted my the virus,” Melania wrote early on Tuesday morning Australians time.

The first lady’s update came as White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany revealed she, too, has coronavirus.

Last Friday, President Donald Trump revealed that both he and Melania tested positive for Covid-19.

Mr Trump was rushed to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Friday night.

The president revealed they contracted the virus after coming into contact with Ms Hicks throughout the week.

Ms Hicks began feeling sick last Wednesday in Minnesota, where the Trump campaign held a re-election rally.

The top aide to the president had travelled to Cleveland, Ohio, on Tuesday for Mr Trump’s first debate against rival Joe Biden.

Within days, a number of people connected to the White House tested positive for coronavirus after a “coronavirus super spreader” ceremony for Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett was held in the Rose Garden.

In addition to the Trumps, Ms Hicks, and Ms McEnany, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has also tested positive for the virus.

Former White House aide Kellyanne Conway and Trump campaign manager Bill Stepien have also confirmed to have the virus.

Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel, along with Republican Senators Mike Lee, Ron Johnson, and Thom Tillis, also tested positive.

Vice President Mike Pence and Second Lady Karen have tested negative for the virus in recent days.

Donald Trump Jr., son of the US President, Eric Trump, Kimberly Guilfoyle, Eric Trump's wife Lara Trump, Tiffany Trump and Ivanka Trump are seen ahead of the first presidential debate last week.

Reverend John Jenkins, president of the University of Notre Dame who was also at the ceremony in the Rose Garden, also has the virus.

Mr Trump spent the weekend at the military hospital in Bethesda, Maryland, where he tweeted and took a controversial SUV ride to see supporters who were gathered outside.

Doctors said on Sunday that Mr Trump’s blood oxygen level had dropped suddenly twice in recent days and that they gave him a steroid typically only recommended for the very sick.

He spent three days in Walter Reed Medical Centre after his oxygen levels dropped, prompting doctors to give him supplemental oxygen.

The President emerged from the hospital’s front doors at 6:40pm today, local time, and flashed a thumbs up to the cameras before getting into his car.

“Mr President, how many staff are sick? How many of your staff are sick?” a reporter asked as Mr Trump walked past.

“Thank you very much everyone,” the President said.

“Do you think you might be a superspreader, Mr President?” the reporter shouted after him.

He gave no indication that he had heard the question.

The motorcade took Mr Trump to his helicopter, Marine One. He boarded it with a wave, and a short time later landed on the White House lawn.
