Shocking footage has captured the moment a man punches three police officers during a wild brawl.

Footage has captured the shocking moment a man punched three police officers in the face while resisting arrest in Fargo, North Dakota.

Officers were reportedly called to the 200 block of Roberts Street North around 4:35pm for a report of suspicious activity.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers attempted to detain the suspect, 37-year-old Joseph Manitowabi, however he managed to escape.

A clip of the incident was shared to social media on Saturday afternoon and shows the man tussling with two male officers and one female officer.

The group can be seen attempting to restrain the man before he breaks free and takes a swing at a male officer, connecting with his jaw.

He then proceeds to punch both remaining officers and makes a run for it while the officers take a moment to briefly nurse their injuries.

The tattoo-clad suspect can be seen with a set of handcuffs still hanging off his wrist.

Local media reports that Mr Manitowabi was apprehended after a brief chase and is now facing charges of resisting arrest, assaulting three officers, meth possession, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Mr Manitowabi is not known to have a permanent address.

Police revealed that the officers involved sustained minor injuries and were receiving treatment at a local health care facility.

Naturally, social media had a field day with the clip that has now been viewed over 12 million times.

“Do these police have NO TRAINING?,” questioned one viewer.

“This looks like a scene out of a movie,” laughed another.

“This is an embarrassment,” said a third.

Assault of a police officer is considered a Class C felony and carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000 USD (A$15,300).
