Former film producer Harvey Weinstein, who is already serving 23 years behind bars, will have his sentence extended by more than a decade after fronting court for a second time in three months.

The Hollywood heavyweight will face an additional 16 years in prison after a jury convicted him of the 2013 rape and sexual assault of a model and actor known as Jane Doe one.

Thursday’s sentence (Friday AEDT) adds to a 23-year conviction the 70-year-old was already serving for a similar incident in New York, 2020 where he was found guilty of first-degree criminal sexual act and third-degree rape.

In a December trial at a Los Angeles court, the disgraced movie mogul was found guilty of one count of rape, sexual penetration by a foreign object and forcible copulation.

The victim testified Weinstein assaulted her in a hotel room in Los Angeles in February 2013, during an Italian film festival.

At the time, Weinstein was also found not guilty for one charge while the jury couldn’t unanimously decide on three other charges.

One of the charges the jury failed to agree on related to Jennifer Siebel Newsom, a filmmaker and the wife of California Govenor Gavin Newsom, CNN reports.

Meanwhile four counts connected to an unnamed woman who did not give evidence were also dropped.

But after his conviction, the jury deadlocked on aggravating factors that could have increased his sentence.

More than 80 people have come forward with rape and misconduct claims against Weinstein dating back to the late 1970s, however, the movie magnate has denied ever having non-consensual sex.

Both of Weinstein’s sentences come since The New York Times and The New Yorker unveiled his alleged history of sexual abuse and harassment against women in 2017.

The shamed producer helped create some of Hollywood’s most renowned movies including Pulp Fiction, Shakespeare in Love and Clerks.

The allegations against Weinstein also led to a spate of people speaking publicly about his alleged abuse in what became the #MeToo movement.
