‘Lies’: British Prime Minister Keir Starmer fires back at Musk

The row between Elon Musk and the British Prime Minister has escalated again with Keir Starmer unleashing on the billionaire in a furious speech.

British PM fires back at Elon Musk

On Monday Elon Musk asked followers on X if America should “liberate” the British people from its “tyrannical government”.

It was the latest dig at Prime Minister Keir Starmer over a row that has erupted about Asian grooming gangs who raped white children.

Starmer fired back at the world’s richest man during a press conference a few hours after the post attacking him for spreading “disinformation” and “lies”.

The usually sedate PM was animated as he let rip at Musk, who has declared public support for jailed far-right agitator Tommy Robinson and has urged people to watch Robinson’s banned documentary on migrant “rape gangs.”

“Those that are spreading lies and disinformation as far and wide as possible are not interested in the victims they are interested in themselves, those cheerleading Tommy Robinson are not interested in justice they are supporting a man who went to prison for nearly collapsing a gang grooming case,” he said.

The very public fallout between Starmer and Musk is embarrassing for the British PM as he desperately seeks to improve relations between himself and president-elect Donald Trump.

Musk has accused Starmer of failing to prosecute gangs that raped and groomed girls when he was Director of Public Prosecutions.

He has also called for British safeguarding minister Jess Phillips to be jailed for not agreeing to hold a public inquiry into the grooming gangs.

There have been numerous investigations into the systematic rape of young women by organised gangs, including in Rotherham, Cornwall, Derbyshire, Rochdale and Bristol.

However, many have called for a national inquiry to hear more victims’ stories and to shine a light on police officers, officials and social workers who turned a blind eye to the years of abuse in the name of political correctness.

Many say that the scandal is still being covered up. In 2020 the Home Office refused to release research into grooming gangs saying it was not in the “public interest”.

When it was, the government was accused of whitewash as the report failed to highlight the clear role of race in the atrocities.

The history of Asian gangs in Britain

The Asian gangs scandal was a systematic failure of law enforcement to investigate claims of child sexual abuse driven by fears of racism accusations.

Vulnerable teenage girls, often living in care homes, were raped by Asian men in towns across the UK with the police reluctant to take action, fearing community fallout.

It is thought that in Telford, in the Midlands, more than 1000 girls were raped and abused while authorities looked the other way.

Another report estimated that in the town of Rotherham, in South Yorkshire, 1400 girls were abused.

In one case, in Oxford, a man called Mohammed Karrar prepared his teenage victim for anal gang rape with a pump. She was then raped by five or six men and gagged so she wouldn’t scream.

In another case, multiple reports of rape and abuse were made concerning a vulnerable 14-year-old girl in residential care. She married her abuser in a traditional Islamic ceremony where her social worker was present.

Sadly, some of the victims lost their lives as a result of the abuse.

A 16-year-old girl from Telford died alongside her mother and sister when her abuser set fire to her home.

Labour refuses to hold public inquiry

Britain’s Labour government has refused to hold a nationwide public inquiry into the scandal despite calls from the opposition to do so.

After what was deemed an inadequate public inquiry into the abuse in Oldham, which only covered the years from 2011 to 2014, survivors called for a government-led inquiry to cover a longer period but that has been turned down.

Starmer defended his record as Director of Public Prosecutions on Monday saying that he tackled the problem of Asian grooming gangs “head-on”.

“When I was chief prosecutor for five years I tackled that head on because I could see what was happening and that is why I reopened cases that had been closed and supposedly finished,” he told reporters.

“I brought the first major prosecution of an Asian grooming gang in the particular case it was in Rochdale but it was the first of its kind, there were many that then followed that format.

“We changed, or I changed, the whole prosecution approach because I wanted to challenge and did challenge the myths and stereotypes that were stopping those victims being heard.”

He also jumped to the defence of Ms Phillips who he called a “colleague” and a “friend”.

“Those attacking Jess Phillips who I am proud to call a colleague and a friend are not protecting victims,” he said.

“Jess Phillips has done a thousand times more than they have even dreamt about when it comes to protecting victims of sexual abuse throughout her entire career.”

Taking another shot at Musk, Sir Keir said: “I enjoy the cut and thrust of politics, the robust debate that we must have but that has got to be based on facts and truth, not on lies, not on those who are so desperate for attention that they are prepared to debase themselves and their country.”

Starmer held the role of Director of Public Prosecutions from 2008 to 2013, with the Crown Prosecutions Service criticised over its handling of Asian grooming gangs during his tenure amid delayed prosecutions and accusations of failing to prioritise victims.
