A TEENAGE boy angry with a girl for unfriending him on Facebook threw a pot of boiling water in her face after keeping her and her mother hostage in their home.

The 15-year-old girl is being treated in hospital with burns on her face, The Hindustan Times reports.

The alleged attacker, Yudhisthir Yadav, who had been tutored by the girl’s father, came to her home and claimed he was looking for a lost ID card, the victim told police.

He then pushed his way inside and took the girl and her mother hostage. Then he boiled a pot of water on the stove and allegedly poured the scalding water on the girl’s face. The right side of her face and neck suffered serious burns, requiring hospital treatment.

“My father is a teacher and he (Yadav) used to come for tuitions to our home,” the victim told police in her statement, reports The Hindustan Times.

“I accepted his friend request a year ago because I found him decent then. But of late he had become abusive and so I ‘unfriended’ him last week.”

Police are searching for the attacker, who they say has gone on the run, The Times of India reports.
