OFFICIALS are desperately trying to get back copies of a high school yearbook after insults and mean messages were published under the photos of some students.

Outraged parents are reportedly describing the publication as a “real life burn book”, according to NBC Dallas-Fort Worth.

The school’s prom queen Juanita Cedillo, who has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair to get around, was deeply hurt by a quote that was inserted underneath her photo which said: “want to hear the most annoying noise in the world?”. The space should have contained a personal quote.

“I questioned myself, what could be that noise, was it my voice?” she told NBC.

“Why would you want to hurt somebody, why?”

“I went in Monday thinking yay, it’s here, the thing I’ve been waiting for is here finally ... for them to take that it’s not okay, it just really isn’t,” Cedillo said.

Other students at W.T. White High School in Dallas, had sexual innuendos inserted under their pictures, one of them says “the only negativity around here should be a pregnancy test”.

The local school district has started an investigation into how the comments were published, with some parents expressing disbelief that it could have passed the proofreading process.

The yearbook even thanks the school’s principal for proofreading the book.

About 90 per cent of the yearbooks have been returned and a statement from the district said corrections would be made and new yearbooks reprinted.

“Individuals who were responsible will be held accountable.”
