Boris Johnson taken to hospital for operation with Dominic Raab ‘put in charge’ of UK
The British Prime Minister was taken to hospital for an operation on Monday morning UK time.
Boris Johnson is recovering after having a minor operation for sinus problems.
The UK Prime Minister had “routine” surgery, a Downing Street spokesman said.
He was put under general anaesthetic for the procedure at a hospital in London.
Mr Johnson reportedly left home at 6am UK time and was back in Downing Street four hours later.
Deputy Prime Minister Dominic Raab is temporarily overseeing national security issues while Mr Johnson rests.
Mr Raab previously took charge when Mr Johnson was placed in intensive care during his battle with Covid.
On Saturday, the PM made a second surprise visit to Ukraine, where he met President Volodymyr Zelensky.
His trip came a day after European leaders including German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron met with Mr Zelensky to discuss Kyiv’s bid to join the EU.
