A British TV host for a quiz has been spotted fighting back laugher after a contestant spelled out a rude word on the letters board.

The pregnant TV presenter smirked as “hooters” was chosen as the points-scoring seven-letter word, which is an American slang term for a woman’s breasts.

Rachel, 35, placed nine letters on the board before the Countdown clock started ticking for contestants James and Adam – who looked to be struggling to find a word.

Once the time was up, both the contestants announced they had a seven-letter word – but one caught Rachel’s attention more than the other.

“Hooters,” James proudly announced as the word he had found as he smiled in the direction of host Nick Hewer, while Adam added: “Shooter”.

“Quite a few sevens,” word expert Susie Dent added, as Rachel placed the letters on the board to spell out the rude word, holding back a smile.

Standing next to the letters board, the presenter cradled her blossoming baby bump and looked away from the cameras to hide her face.

Host Nick swiftly moved on from the awkward moment, asking Rachel to place new letters on the board for the intense game to continue.

Last year, Game show star and maths genius Rachel Riley could barely contain herself when she spotted a very rude word on the Countdown board recently.

The 34-year-old presenter squirmed when she noticed that the vowels and consonants a contestant had chosen could easily spell out c**t during the final letters round of the popular UK game show.

Contestant Tony asked: “Can I have a vowel please?” before Ms Riley listed off “U”, followed by “C”, “N”, and “T”.

The TV star turned around when she clocked the almost-slur and pulled a twisted grimace to the camera.

Ever the consummate professional, Riley managed to keep a straight face and stifle her laughter to get on with the show.

Ms Riley first joined Countdown in 2009 when she was 22, having only just graduated from the University of Oxford.

In 2013, Rachel appeared on UK reality dancing program Strictly Come Dancing and began dating her dance partner Pasha Kovalev.

Five years later the couple tied the knot in 2019 ceremony in Las Vegas.

She gave birth to their daughter Maven Aria in December, announcing: “Two weeks after we were expecting her this little one finally made an appearance.”
