Top Russian propagandist says Vladimir Putin ‘should have nuked Queen’s funeral’
A leading Russian TV military pundit has urged Vladimir Putin to turn Britain into a “Martian wasteland” with a nuclear strike.
A leading Russian TV military pundit has urged Vladimir Putin to turn Britain into a “Martian wasteland” with a nuclear strike.
A top television propagandist - dubbed Putin’s ‘Iron Doll’ - said the Kremlin should have hit London on Monday when all major Western leaders were at the Queen’s funeral.
The latest chilling threats from Putin’s state-run channels came amid continuing setbacks for his armed forces in Ukraine, with Moscow blaming Britain for galvanising Western action against the Kremlin.
Military commander and MP Andrey Gurulev said Western threats to planned referendums on joining Russia in invaded areas of Ukraine should be seen as a red line.
“If there is a real threat to Russian territory, we are fully entitled to use nuclear weapons,” said the reservist general, who is a member of the Russian parliament’s defence committee.
“It will not provoke a nuclear war, because we will use operative - not strategic - nuclear weapons on Kalibrs, Iskanders, and bombs on planes.”
He hit back on Western claims that Russia could strike at Ukraine and Germany.
Gurulev said: “Why should we bomb Ukraine or Germany?
“There is Britain - the root of all evil.”
Anchor Olga Skabeyeva said Putin “should have done it” on Monday, the day of the Queen’s funeral.
“All the best people were there at the funeral… God forgive me,” she said.
Gurulev stated: “When Britain is turned into a Martian wasteland, what will NATO’s Article 5 [defending collective security] be about….?
“Defending the Martian wasteland?
“There will be nothing left there.
“An unshakable island - it will be shakable.”
With Britain wiped off the face of the earth, no other country would dare challenge Russia, he said.
“I assure you, they would all back off.”
He said: “We won’t use our strategic nuclear forces, it can be left in reserve - so that no-one from across the ocean has even a thought to [attack us here].
Presenter and MP Yevgeny Popov said: “Just to remind you that the United Kingdom is also a nuclear state, and they have nuclear weapons.”
Gurulev: “And I remind you they have 245 nukes.
“With a clever approach they would be bled white in a heartbeat“.
“But they miscalculated first and foremost with their sanctions and economic blockade,” he continued.
“Biden is talking nonsense, he is frightening us with consequences.
“What makes him think that we will launch a nuclear strike on Ukraine?
“We still have to live there. We have real targets, the [US Air Force] Ramstein Air Base in Germany is certainly a fat target, but not the most urgent.”
Striking Britain was a bigger priority, he claimed.
Ex-president Dmitry Medvedev said Putin’s intended referendums in invaded areas of Ukraine including the Donetsk and Luhansk people’s republics were important for “the restoration of historical justice”.
“After their implementation and the acceptance of new territories into Russia, the geopolitical transformation in the world will become irreversible,” he claimed.
“Encroachment on the territory of Russia is a crime, the commission of which allows you to use all the forces of self-defence.”
No future leader would cede the Donbas and other invaded territories, he said.
“That is why these referendums are so feared in Kyiv and in the West. That is why they need to be carried out.”
