Paris attacks: Who were the victims?

PANICKED loved ones continue to search for missing friends and family as more details emerge about the 132 killed in Friday’s horrifying Paris attacks.

PANICKED loved ones continue to search for their missing friends and family through social media as more details emerge about the 132 people killed in the Paris terror attacks.

Pleas for help have flooded pages on Twitter and Facebook named ‘Recherche Paris’ — which translates to ‘search Paris’ — with images and descriptions of possible victims as relatives frantically try to work out their fates.

A young French lawyer specialising in white-collar crime, an engineer from Spain and an American college student studying design on a semester abroad were among the first victims to be identified after the gun attacks and suicide bombings on Friday evening in France’s capital city.

Among the confirmed dead:

Marie Mosser: The 24-year-old’s love of music brought her to the Bataclan concert hall where she died. From the French city of Nancy, Mosser worked for the label Universal Music, according to the “20 minutes” news website. Mosser’s Twitter profile said she worked in communication and digital marketing. Pascal Negre, president of Universal Music France, tweeted over her death and that of two other victims: “The Universal Music family is in mourning.” Mosser’s father is a manager in Nancy city government, “20 minutes” reported.

Fanny Minot: The 29-year-old went straight from her job at a TV newsmagazine show to the Bataclan on Friday night, where she was killed. Minot was an editor at the show, Le Supplement. Artistic and free-spirited, she enjoyed making independent movies — and above all, enjoyed new experiences, her friend Stephen Fox said.

Eric Thomé: The photographer, 39, was among the victims of the Bataclan attack. Thomé and his partner had been expecting their second baby, Le Parisien reports.

Nathalie Jardin: The 31-year-old was in charge of the lighting at the Bataclan theatre, and was working the night of the attack, La Voix du Nord reports. Loved ones had been desperately searching for word on the music lover for a two days before they realised she had been killed.

Germain Ferey: The photographer and film artist loved rock music, according to his sister, Domitille Ferey. The 39-year-old was at the Bataclan concert hall when gunfire rang out. He protected his partner, with whom he has a 17-year-old daughter.

Hodda and Halima Saadi: The Tunsian sisters, Halima, 35, and Hodda, 36, lived in an outer region of France. The UK’s Telegraph reported that Halima died at the scene, while Houda later succumbed to her injuries. They were at La Belle Equipe, where Hodda was the manager and their brother Khaled Saadi also worked. Khaled, who desperately tried to save his sisters, survived.

Lodovic Boumbas: The 40-year-old lost his life in his final heroic act where he threw himself in front of a bullet to save a woman’s life, the UK’s Telegraph reports. The Congolese native who was raised in northern France was shot dead while attended a birthday party at La Belle Epique. The Daily Mail quoted his friend as saying, “Ludo threw himself to protect a girl and took the bullet”.

Helene Muyal: The 35-year-old was a makeup artist and mother who died at the Bataclan concert. Her husband, Antoine Leiris, posted a memorial on Facebook, telling the terrorists: “I won’t give you the gift of my hatred. It’s what you sought, but answering hate with anger would be to surrender to the same ignorance that has made you what you are.”

He said the life of his 17-month-old child with his late wife, carried out in happiness and freedom, would forever be a challenge to the terrorists.

Bertrand Navarret: The 37-year-old lived in the southern French community of Capbreton near the Spanish border and was just spending a few days in Paris with friends. They decided to take in a rock concert — where Navarret was killed at Bataclan hall. He was a carpenter and avid snowboarder, according to the Liberation.

Pierro Innocenti: A manager at his family’s Italian restaurant Livio on the outskirts of Paris, his last post on his Facebook page was a photo of the Bataclan’s sign advertising the Eagles of Death Metal show, with a caption Innocenti added: “Rock!”. The 40-year-old 40, of Paris, was a manager at his family’s Italian restaurant on the outskirts of the city. The 40-year-old was married, and a thrillseeker keen on surfing and skydiving.

Anne and Pierre-Yves Guyomard: On their wedding day in 2013, Anne and Pierre-Yves Guyomard struck the mayor of their Paris suburb, Emmanuel Lamy, as a couple “full of life and hope,” Lamy recalled to Le Parisien. Among the crowd at the Bataclan, the Guyomards were particularly steeped in music. Pierre-Yves, 32, taught film scoring at a technical institute, and Anne, 29, had studied music before going to work at a childcare centre.

Sebastien Proisy: The 38-year-old had launched a promising career in international business consulting that would never be fully realised. He died at a restaurant along Bichat street in Paris during the terrorist attacks when he was shot in the back, according to the Liberation.

Precilia Correia: The 35-year-old was killed at the Bataclan concert with her boyfriend, the Liberation reports. The dual French-Portuguese national worked in retail and loved photography, snowboarding and cooking.

Elif Dogan and Milko Jozic: The newlyweds had been living in Paris for about four months, the Sydney Morning Herald reported. Dogan, 26, was from Turkey and Jozic, 47, was from Belgium. They lived on the same street as the Bataclan, the Telegraph said.

Caroline Prénat: The 24-year-old graphic designer, from Lyon, was killed at the Bataclan. A friend confirmed her death on Twitter. Loved ones have taken to Facebook to pay tribute to Prénat’s joyful outlook on life.

Elodie Breuil: A design student at Conde, the 23-year-old was at the Eagles of Death Metal concert with her friends. Earlier this year, she had marched in the Charlie Hebdo rally with her mother, Time reported.

Michelli Gil Jaimes: A Mexican student and former beauty contest winner, Buzzfeed reported.

News outlet El Universal said she was the daughter of Pedro Gil, an entrepreneur in the Mexican region of Tuxpan.

Mathias Dymarski: An avid BMX bike rider, lost his life at the Bataclan theatre with his girlfriend, Marie Lausch. He was originally from Metz, France.

Marie Lausch: She moved to Paris with her boyfriend Mathias Dymarski in September last year and both were killed at the Bataclan. She worked in PR for Coty, an international distributor of beauty products and perfume.

Valeria Solesin: The 28-year-old was an Italian-born doctoral student at the Sorbonne. She had lived in Paris for several years and had gone to the concert at the Bataclan with her boyfriend. They lost track of each other as they tried to escape. Her mother, Luciana Milani, told reporters in Venice, ‘‘We will miss her very much, and she will be missed, I can also say, by our country. People like this are important.”

Solesin had been working at the Sorbonne as a researcher while completing her doctorate. While at a university in Italy, Solesin had worked as a volunteer for the Italian humanitarian aid group Emergency. ‘‘It is tragic that a person so young, who is trying to understand the world and to be a help, find herself involved in such a terrible event,” said Emergency regional co-ordinator in Trento, Fabrizio Tosini.

— Nohemi Gonzalez: The 23-year-old was a junior at California State University, Long Beach. The university said Gonzalez, from El Monte, California, was attending Strate College of Design in Paris during a semester abroad program. Gonzalez was in the Petit Cambodge restaurant with fellow student when she was fatally shot, Cal State officials said.

Her mother, Beatriz Gonzalez, said Nohemi graduated early from high school early and couldn’t wait to go to college. “She was very independent since she was little,” she said. Design professor Michael LaForte said Gonzalez stood out at the California university. “She was a shining star, and she brought joy, happiness, laughter to everybody she worked with and her students, her classmates.”

— Djamila Houd: The 41-year-old, who lived in Paris, was originally from the town of Dreux, southwest of the capital. The newspaper serving Dreux — L’Echo Republicain — said Houd was killed at a cafe on the rue de Charrone in Paris.

According to Facebook posts from grieving friends, she had worked for Isabel Marant, a prestigious Paris-based ready-to-wear house.

— Thomas Ayad: A producer-manager for Mercury Music Group, the music buff who was killed at the Bataclan.

In his hometown, Amiens, he was an avid follower of the local field hockey team.

Fabrice Dubois: The 46-year-old worked with the publicity agency Publicis Conseil. The agency said in a statement on Facebook that he was killed at the concert hall and that “the entire agency is upset. He was a very great man in every sense of the word. Our thoughts are with his family, his wife, his children, his friends, those with whom he worked.”

Manuel Dias: A Portuguese man, he lived in Paris and was confirmed dead by Portugal’s government. The 63-year-old had worked as a driver for 20 years at Regnault Autocars and had dropped off a group of passengers at the Stade de France close to the time of one of the explosions. He leaves behind his wife and two children, according to L’Union.

Luis Felipe Zschoche Valle: A Chilean musician who had been living in Paris for eight years, La Tercera reports. The 35-year-old was attending the concert with his French wife. He was a guitarist and singer with the band Captain Americano.

— Juan Alberto Gonzalez Garrido: The 29-year-old, from Madrid, was at the Bataclan concert.

The Spanish state broadcaster TVE said Gonzalez Garrido was an engineer, living in France with his wife, also an engineer. They both were at the concert, but became separated amid the mayhem.

— Nick Alexander: The 36-year-old Briton, fromColchester, was working at the Bataclan selling merchandise for the performing band, Eagles of Death Metal.

“Nick was not just our brother, son and uncle, he was everyone’s best friend — generous, funny and fiercely loyal,” his family said in a statement.

“Nick died doing the job he loved and we take great comfort in knowing how much he was cherished by his friends around the world.”

Asta Diakite: The cousin of French footballer Lassana Diarra, who was playing in the football match against Germany at the Stade de France on Friday night, died in the attacks.

Diarra revealed on Twitter that he lost his cousin and said she was like a “big sister” to him.

“Dado”: The man, nicknamed Dado, was from Ceyrat in the central Auvergne region.

The 44-year-old, who worked for the tax office and was unmarried, was at the Bataclan, France 3 reported.

Cedric Mauduit: The director of modernisation of the French department of Calvados. The department issued a statement announcing his death at the concert hall, saying that Mauduit “found it a joy to share this concert with his five friends” and said the sadness of those who knew him was “immense.” Anyone who worked with Mauduit, the statement said, could appreciate both his skills and his humanity. He leaves behind his wife and two young children.

— Mathieu Hoche: The cameraman for France24 news channel, was also killed at the concert. A friend, Antoine Rousseay, tweeted about how passionately Hoche loved rock ‘n’ roll. Gerome Vassilacos, who worked with Hoche, said that his colleague was fun, easygoing and great to work with. “Even though he laughed easily and joked around, he worked hard.” Hoche, 38, had a nine-year-old son.

— Elsa Veronique Delplace San Martin and her mother Patricia San Martin Nunez:

The mother and daughter were both at the Bataclan concert with Elsa’s five-year-old son, who survived. Patricia, 61, is described as a Chilean exile, who left her country during the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet. Her daughter Elsa, 35, was born in France and held dual citizenship. She worked as a consultant at Manegere Associés. Her workmates remembered Elsa on Facebook as their “very own James Dean” for her strong work ethic. Elsa and Patricia were respectively the niece and grand-niece of Chile’s ambassador to Mexico, Ricardo Nunez.

Valentin Ribert: A lawyer with the Paris office of the international law firm Hogan Lovells, Ribert was among those killed at a the Bataclan.

Ribert, 26, received a master of laws degree from the London School of Economics in 2014, and earlier did postgraduate work at the Sorbonne university in Paris.

His law firm said he worked on the litigation team, specialising in white-collar crime. “He was a talented lawyer, extremely well-liked, and a wonderful personality in the office,” the firm said.

Aurelie De Peretti: The 33-year-old was confirmed dead by her sister, who told The New York Times that Aurelie was at the Bataclan and was pronounced dead by Paris medical examiners.

François-Xavier Prévost: The Parisian, 26, worked at LocalMedia. He was killed at the Bataclan where he was attending the concert with friends.

Lola Salines: A family member confirmed her death after trying to find her whereabouts on Twitter. Lola was a roller derby player, and was at the concert hall with a team member, who received injuries.

Quentin Boulanger: The 29-year-old, who lived in Paris for several years, died at the Bataclan.

— Mohamed Amine Benmbarek: According to a Facebook post from his cousin, Akram Benmbarek, newlywed Mohamed died while his wife suffered three gunshot wounds and remains in a critical condition.

Guillaume B Decherf: The journalist with Les Inrocks magazine and was killed at the Bataclan. He was a father of two and had written about the Eagles of Death Metal’s latest album.

Australian Emma Grace Parkinson, 19, was confirmed as being injured during the attacks. She was reportedly holidaying in France and was wounded near the Bataclan concert hall.

Some governments announced that their citizens had been killed, without giving names. Germany’s Foreign Ministry said Sunday that a German man was killed. The Paris correspondent for German public broadcaster ARD, Mathias Werth, wrote on Twitter that the man had been sitting on the terrace of a cafe when he was killed.

Sweden’s Prime Minister Stefan Lofven said a Swedish citizen was killed.

Mexico’s government said another of its citizens, a woman who held dual Mexican-U.S. citizenship, was killed.

Belgium reported two of its citizens had been killed during the attacks, BFM TV reported two Romanians were among the dead, while another Swedish national had also been killed.

Two Tunisian women, aged 34 and 35, were killed after celebrating a friend’s birthday, according to French newspaper Le Figaro.

Two Portuguese nationals are reported to have died, according to the Lisbon government.
