London’s Trafalgar Square evacuated on UK election day
LONDON’S Trafalgar Square was evacuated by police on Thursday over a ‘suspicious package’ not believed to be terrorism-related.
LONDON’S Trafalgar Square and Charing Cross Station were evacuated on Thursday afternoon over a “suspicious item”.
Metropolitan police said officers were called to reports of a “suspicious item” at Charing Cross however it was “not being treated as terrorist related at this time.”

It comes during a busy Thursday afternoon in which UK voters took to the polls for an election.
Office workers in the area shared pictures on Twitter that showed police tape creating a cordon.
Actor Danny Colligan said to avoid the area as there were “loads of armed police about”.
ITV executive Jonathan Russell said: “just been evacuated from Trafalgar Square. Big security presence and strong cordons. Developing.”
Shortly afterwards Transport For London said “All roads have now reopened following an earlier police incident.”
London Bridge and Borough Market suffered a terror attack on Saturday when eight people were killed after a van drove into pedestrians and attackers started stabbing people.
