CHILD killer Jon Venables is engaged and plans to marry when he leaves prison.

Venables, 35, is understood to have proposed last year and his fiancée has been showing off her engagement ring, The Sun reports.

The doting bride, who has not been named for legal reasons, knows he murdered two-year-old James Bulger.

She also stood by Venables earlier this month when he was locked up for 40 months for downloading child abuse images.

A source said: “Officials have made this woman fully aware of Venables’ horrific crimes yet this hasn’t stopped her wanting to be with him.

“You have to question what kind of woman would choose to spend their life with a convicted child killer and paedophile.

“Anyone in their right mind would run a mile when they found out they were dating Venables.

“But she is going about her business in a normal way and intends to marry when he’s released from jail.

“You have to remember that while the couple might be busy planning the rest of their lives together, sadly James was robbed of his chance to find a soulmate later in life.”

Last week we revealed Venables had a secret girlfriend.

Officials forced him to tell her who he was when they realised the pair’s relationship was serious.

He is understood to have then come clean about how he and Robert Thompson abducted, tortured and murdered James in Liverpool in 1993.

The vile pair were released from a young offenders’ institution under licence in 2001, when they turned 18.

Venables and his girlfriend were living together when probation workers discovered a laptop hidden behind a headboard in his bedroom last year.

He was arrested after 1,160 files of child abuse images and videos were found. Almost 400 were of the most depraved category, the court heard.
