Harvey Weinstein charged with two counts of indecent assault
Weinstein, 70, is accused of indecently assaulting a woman in London in August 1996, the British Crown Prosecution Service said.
Disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein will be charged with two fresh counts of indecent assault.
Weinstein, 70, is accused of indecently assaulting a woman in London in August 1996, the British Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said.
Evidence has been reviewed by the Metropolitan Police, said Rosemary Ainslie, head of the CPS special crime division.
“The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against the defendant are active and that he has the right to a fair trial,” she added.
Weinstein is currently serving a 23-year prison sentence for rape in the US.
A jury in New York found him guilty of one count of criminal sexual assault in the first degree and one count of rape in the third degree.
He will be 87 by the time he is eligible for parole in November 2039.
Weinstein’s legal team said at the time that he intended to appeal against the conviction.
