The deaths of three children found alongside their father’s at a house in Surrey in the UK are being investigated as murder, police have said.

Dominik Swiderski, aged three, Nikodem Swiderski, two, and Kacper Swiderski, two, were found dead alongside dad Piotr Swiderski, 31, on Saturday, August 31.

The boys’ mum, Angelika Swiderski, paid tribute to her sons as “happy, active children, full of life and happiness”, The Sun reports.

The deaths of the children are being investigated as murder by the Surrey Police and Sussex Police Major Crime Team, Surrey Police said.

They added that they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the probe.

The force completed a mandatory referral to the police watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), due to previous police contact with the family, but the IOPC determined earlier this week that an investigation into this previous contact was not required.

Senior Investigating Officer, DCI Kimball Edey said: “I would like to express my sincere condolences to the family of Dominik, Kacper and Nikodem for their loss.

“They will continue to be supported by specialist officers as our investigation continues.

“I would ask that their privacy is respected at what is a tremendously difficult time for them.”

Inquests into the death of Mr Swiderski and the three boys will be opened and adjourned on September 10, police said.

The grim discovery was made shortly after 1pm by an ambulance crew, who then called police to the semi-detached home.

Next door neighbour Shehr Sikandari told of how he heard a woman’s “horrific screams” shortly before police arrived to the scene on Bremer Road.

Mr Sikandari claimed it was a woman who was screaming before everyone came out to see what was happening.

“We had breakfast outside at around 10am. It was quiet and we didn’t hear anything,” he said.

“After 12pm we heard some screams and then the police came.”

Another local said: “This is like the quintessential quiet town - you’d never expect it. It’s just a normal house in a pretty normal street in a really boring place.

“Nothing happens round here - it’s a quiet little neighbourhood.”

Neighbours described the family as “beautiful” and said that the children were well loved.

Mike Cresswell, 68, said of Piotr: “He seemed like a lovely guy but you couldn’t get to speak to him because he was always so stressed.

“They were a beautiful family.

“The children were well loved and well looked after.”

Another neighbour, 55, said the boys were “angelic” and always looked “happy as larry”.

DCI Gareth Hicks who is leading the investigation, previously said: “This is a truly tragic incident and a thorough investigation is underway to establish exactly what happened.

“We would like to thank the local community for their support and understanding while we have been conducting our inquiries.”
