Bill Gates’ daughter jokes about getting COVID-19 vaccine

The 24-year-old daughter of Bill Gates has made a joke on social media about the wild vaccine conspiracy theories surrounding her billionaire father.

Immune to evidence: How COVID conspiracy theories are skyrocketing

Bill Gates’ daughter told her social media followers that the first dose of the COVID-19 “did NOT implant my genius father into my brain”.

Jennifer Gates, 24, made the joke to dispel wild conspiracy theories that the billionaire Microsoft founder was somehow using the vaccine to get inside people’s minds and track their movements, according to a report.

Jennifer Gates is a second-year medical student at New York’s Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

“I am beyond privileged to receive my first dose of mRNA to teach my cells to mount a protective immune response to this virus. As a medical student and aspiring physician, I am grateful it will give me protection and safety for my future practice,” she told her more than 357,000 Instagram followers Friday.

Bill Gates has previously lashed out at bizarre conspiracy theories that claim he’s using COVID-19 vaccines to microchip the world’s population.

The Microsoft founder previously said he was shocked at the level of “crazy” and “evil” conspiracy theories that have targeted him during the pandemic.

Mr Gates has used his personal wealth to help in the global fight against various transmissible diseases for more than two decades, and has donated tens of billions of dollars to philanthropic causes.

Mr Gates’ wife, Melinda Gates, also addressed the conspiracy theories about her husband.

In an interview with Gayle King, she said she’s heard the theories that “Bill Gates put microchips in the vaccines in order to control people”.

“I certainly heard many of those conspiracy theories … that disinformation causes more death,” she said.

“If you take up one conspiracy theory on the internet, we now know these social media platforms will serve up many, many more. And so people start to go down those dark holes.”

Ms Gates said her husband had received the coronavirus vaccine and had “no issues”.
