WA announces record 9782 daily Covid-19 cases
Western Australia has recorded its highest daily Covid case tally overnight, with 10 people in intensive care with the virus.
Western Australia has reported a record 9782 daily Covid cases less than a week after dropping most of the restrictions designed to contain the virus.
To 8pm on Tuesday, there were 242 people with the virus in hospital and 10 in intensive care, the health department said on Wednesday.
The daily total includes two historical deaths reported to WA Health on Tuesday.
The deaths date back to April 12 and 30 and include a woman in her 90s and a man in his 70s.
Of the 9782 cases, 4004 were confirmed via PCR test and 5778 were self-reported positive rapid antigen tests.
A total of 13,501 PCR tests were conducted on Wednesday.
There are now 44,868 active cases in the state.
Western Australia has recorded 415,563 cases since the Covid pandemic began.
