COVID-19 Melbourne live updates: Influencer fined after Fendi viewing party

A Melbourne Instagram influencer has copped a $1652 fine after holding a private designer label viewing party  despite stage four restrictions.

Police investigate designer clothes party

A Melbourne Instagram influencer and two employees from luxury fashion brand Fendi have been fined after holding a private product viewing despite stage four restrictions.

The woman and two Fendi employees have each been fined $1652, Nine reports.

It comes after the woman posted a video to social media last week showing the staff members appearing to hold a viewing party of the designer clothes and handbags in her Melbourne apartment.

Shops are closed under Melbourne's current lockdown restrictions and residents are not allowed to have visitors in their homes.

When asked about the party last week, Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews said that behaviour was "not on".

“No one should be going into any homes regardless of how well-heeled the client may be or how luxury the goods may be, no matter what you’re selling or what price you’re paying,” he said.

Today's new case figure is the lowest since July 13, when the state recorded 177 new infections.

Influencer fined after designer label viewing party

A Melbourne Instagram influencer and two employees from luxury fashion brand Fendi have been fined after holding a private product viewing despite stage four restrictions.

The woman and two Fendi employees have each been fined $1652, Nine reports.

It comes after the woman posted a video to social media last week showing the staff members appearing to hold a viewing party of the designer clothes and handbags in her Melbourne apartment.

"You're the first one seeing this first darling, like literally, like literally," one of the workers can be heard saying in the clip.

The woman also uploaded a photo of the representatives holding bags of the luxury items, saying it was the "“best service ever" and "an amazing experience”.

“This virus does not discriminate … Victoria Police . . can have a close look at that, because that should not be going on, if indeed it is.

“You just can’t be having people into your home, unless it’s absolutely necessary.

“You can have a plumber come to your house if you’ve got a pipe that’s burst and you can have an electrician come if there’s some urgent issues with the wiring or something of that nature.

“But there’s nothing urgent about a luxury handbag.”

Decision to ban farmer markets blasted

The latest decision from Victorian health authorities to ban farmers markets while still allowing outdoor food markets has come under fire.

Up until now the advice has been that outdoor food markets would be allowed to trade under Melbourne's stage four restrictions.

But overnight that advice changed to exclude farmers markets.

The Victorian Farmers' Markets Association blasted the "dreadful decision", questioning how other outdoor markets could be allowed.

"We don’t understand how outdoor food markets could be separate from farmers’ markets, which are outdoor open-air essential food retail outlets for farmers and small-scale food producers," the association said in a statement.

"Given that the DHHS has reviewed and endorsed the VFMA Covid Risk Management Guidelines for Farmers’ Markets, we respectfully request that this recent exclusion be reversed."

The association said the DHHS had not answered any calls, emails or text messages on the issue.

"Senior advisers in AgVic, DJPR and EcoDev are even now continuing to seek answers and change on our behalf, but at this time on a Friday it seems likely that metro-based farmers' markets this weekend are going to need to be cancelled. We will keep battling to have this illogical exclusion changed as soon as possible," the association said.

"We're devastated not to have better news for our farmers, market managers and shoppers today."

Victorians almost halfway through lockdown

This weekend will mark the halfway point of Melbourne's strict stage four lockdown.

Ambulance Victoria sent out an encouraging message to residents, saying the state is "living through history".

Quarantine hotel guard 'worked at Coles'

Going back to the hotel quarantine inquiry in Melbourne, which has wrapped up for the day, NCA NewsWire has obtained the lengthy submission from the first security guard to give evidence.

The security supervisor revealed one guard was working shifts at Coles before a 12-hour shift at the quarantine hotel.

Speaking to the inquiry on Friday afternoon under the pseudonym ‘Security 1’, the man explained he was subcontracted as a floor manager at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, where he was in charge of guards on two-three floors.

He said he was concerned about guards working across different hotels, or across different jobs while employed at one of the hotels.

“While I was working at Crowne Plaza I had to send a guard home as he was working 12 hour shifts for us in security but was also working some day shifts at Coles,” the submission read.

“I had to send him home at one point because he extremely tired, and his position was covered by a ‘spare’ guard, of which there was usually one per shift to cover such contingencies.”

Anti-masker to spend two weeks isolated in cell

A woman who allegedly coughed on staff at a cafe in Frankston and assaulted police is refusing to take a COVID-19 test.

The Herald Sun reports Mandy Crerar, 58, also refused to appear via video link at Frankston Magistrates Court today and will remain in remand quarantine.

She allegedly refused to wear a mask at the cafe last Tuesday.

"To protect our staff and the Frankston community from falling victim to COVID-19, please do your bit to the community when visiting the cafe and wear a protective face mask," Cafe Fleur By Jen said on Facebook.

"An altercation took place within the Beach Street shopping precinct today and unfortunately made headlines.

"Please stay safe, protect yourself, look after each other and follow state government guidelines so we can get back to normality and do the things we love that we miss the most."

Ms Crerar was refused bail at a hearing the following day.
