How every coronavirus case in Sydney’s current outbreak links

A superspreader birthday party, a waiting room and a bustling shopping centre were where some of the latest cases contracted Covid-19.

NSW Covid: More Sydney restrictions after 16 new cases announced

Dozens of coronavirus cases have rapidly emerged in Sydney after an airport transfer driver contracted the virus and unwittingly spread it through the city.

One week on from his positive test, more than 30 Sydneysiders have been infected and tough restrictions have been enforced to prevent further spread.

Here is what we know about each of the cases in the current coronavirus outbreak.

Case One

A limousine driver in his 60s from Sydney’s eastern suburbs who transported international flight crew returned a positive result on June 16.

He visited the Event Cinema inside Westfield Bondi Junction on June 13 between 1.30pm and 4pm, as well as Belle Café in Vaucluse on June 11, 12, 13 and 15. Other venues inside Westfield Bondi Junction were listed as exposure sites including Sourdough Bakery, David Jones and Myer, which he visited over the course of several days between June 11 and 13.

Additionally, the man visited Washoku Vaucluse between 12pm and 1.30pm on June 12, Rocco’s on June 14 between 10.55am and 11.30am, and the Macquarie Park Cemetery cafe in North Ryde on June 15 between 1pm and 1.20pm.

Coles and Taste Growers inside the Zetland East Village Shopping Centre were visited by the man on June 14 between 11am and 1pm, and the Wax Car Wash Café in Redfern on the same day between 12pm and 3pm.

Case two

The man’s wife, aged in her 70s, tested positive to Covid-19 later on June 16, after visiting Harry’s Coffee and Kitchen, NAB and David Jones inside Westfield Bondi Junction on June 15.

She also visited Field to Fork in Vaucluse on June 11 between 12pm and 4pm, and caught the 200 bus on June 15 at 4.25pm from Bondi Junction and arrived at Blue Street in North Sydney at 5pm.

Case three

A man in his 40s from Sydney’s northwestern suburbs returned a positive result for Covid-19, however, health authorities were not immediately sure of how he contracted the virus, which they said he had “low viral levels” of.

The man visited a number of venues in Bondi Junction, Vaucluse, North Ryde and Zetland while potentially infectious. His three household contacts tested negative to the virus.

Case four

A man in his 50s from Sydney’s eastern suburbs tested positive on June 18 after he visited venues in Redfern, North Sydney, Campbelltown and Newtown. All of his household contacts returned negative results.

Case five

A woman in her 40s from Sydney’s eastern suburbs returned a positive result on June 19 after attending several venues in Westfield Bondi Junction.

Case six

A man in his 30s from Sydney also tested positive on June 19 after visiting Westfield Bondi Junction.

Case seven

A woman in her 50s from the Sutherland Shire tested positive on June 19 after coming in close contact of a previously reported case. She was already in isolation when her positive result came back.

Case eight

A man in his 50s from the Sutherland Shire who was a close contact of a previously reported case. He had also been in isolation since being exposed to the virus.

Case nine

A woman from Sydney’s northern suburbs in her 50s who was a close contact of a previously reported case. She had been in isolation.

Case 10

A man in his 30s who lives in Sydney who attended Westfield Bondi Junction and spent time in Wollongong.

Case 11

A household contact of the man in his 30s who also attended Westfield Bondi Junction and spent time in Wollongong.

Case 12

A woman in her 20s from the eastern suburbs. She was linked to the Bondi cluster. Further investigations are underway.

Case 13

A woman in her 40s from Sydney’s northern suburbs. She was a close contact of a previously reported case and had been in isolation.

Case 14

A woman in her 60s from the Illawarra. She was a close contact of a previously reported case and had been in isolation.

Case 15

A man in his 60s from Wollongong. He is a household contact of a previously reported case and has been in isolation while infectious.

Case 16-21

Five family members who are household contacts of a previous case. They have been in isolation while infectious.

Case 22

A man in his 50s who works in Bondi Junction and took a flight to New Zealand and back to Sydney.

Case 23

A woman in her 40s from Wollongong. She is a close contact of a previously reported case and has been in isolation while infectious.

Case 24

A man in his 30s from South West Sydney. He is a close contact of a previously reported case.

Case 25-30

Six other cases are linked to a birthday party in West Hoxton, attended by a previously reported case linked to the Bondi cluster.

Case 31

A two-year-old child, who attended Little Zak’s childcare in Narellan Vale on 21 June, tested positive after attending the birthday party.

Case 32

A nine-year-old child, a student at St Charles Catholic Primary School in Waverly, with no known links to the Bondi party.

Case 33

A close contact of a previously reported case linked to the Bondi cluster.

Case 34-37

Four cases are currently unlinked. Urgent investigations and contact tracing are underway.

Of all current cases, 31 have been linked to the Bondi cluster, while six are still being investigated.

Where have positive cases been?

A slate of locations visited by positive cases have featured in a growing list developed by NSW Health, which is being updated regularly on its website.

Westfield Bondi Junction

Several locations inside the shopping centre have been listed as exposure sites including Chanel, David Jones, Event Cinemas, Fresh Nails, Harry’s Coffee Kitchen, Myer, Sourdough Bakery and Tea Gardens.

Barangaroo

A positive case visited California Nails in Barangaroo on June 16.

Birkenhead Point Brand Outlet (Drummoyne)

Multiple stores were visited by a positive case on June 15 including Country Road, Nike, North Face and Seed.

Fairy Meadow

The Broken Drum Cafe was visited by a positive case on June 18.

Newtown

Adora Handmade Chocolates was visited by a positive case on June 13.

North Ryde

Cemetery Cafe Macquarie Park was visited by a positive case on June 15.

Northmead

Northmead Bowling Club was visited by a positive case on June 13.

Redfern

The Twisted Olive and Wax Car Wash Cafe were visited by a positive case on June 13 and 14 respectively.

Sydney

ANZ Martin Place, Fitness First Bond Street and Sydney Airport, were exposed to cases on various dates.

Tempe

Salvos Stores was visited by a positive case on June 16, 17 and 19.

Vaucluse

Belle Cafe, Rocco’s and Washoku Vaucluse were exposed to the virus earlier in June.
