The father of removalists who travelled to regional NSW while infected with covid has also tested positive, two days after his wife died.

Mother of Sydney removalists fifth death in latest outbreak

The father of two removalists who travelled to regional New South Wales while infected with Covid-19 has now also tested positive, just days after his wife died from the virus.

Adel Shawka told his neighbours in Green Valley in Sydney’s southwest that he too has coronavirus and is quarantining inside the family home, according to reports.

His wife Saeeda Akobi Jjou Stu, 54, died on Monday after suffering a heart attack brought on by her covid illness. She was diagnosed on Friday, the same day her twin sons Ramsin and Roni tested positive.

The pair allegedly drove to the state’s Central West last week for work despite having been notified they had Covid-19. They now face criminal charges.

Neighbours told the Daily Mail that Mr Shawka notified them yesterday that he also has the Delta variant of covid and urged them to stay away from the house.

The Daily Telegraph reported that the mother and her sons all went to get tested together on Thursday night – and got a phone call the following day to tell them they were positive.

The devastating details about the timing of diagnosis shows how quickly the virus can take hold.

“You can deteriorate quite quickly with Covid. We’re not dealing with a mild case of the flu,” Dr Chant told reporters yesterday.

“You are going to see rapid deteriorations, so it is important that we work with people with Covid to support them with the best possible care we can to ensure the best possible outcome.”

Dr Chant confirmed on Tuesday health authorities were aware the woman had contracted the virus before she died.

“That was my understanding. Care was offered and there was care around the family,” Dr Chant told reporters.

“That family were offered care and were offered transport to an alternate facility to support them with their isolation and care … they made the decision to stay at home.”

Dr Chant said the family were otherwise supported by local health workers after declining state quarantine accommodation.

The twins have been charged by police for allegedly working while infectious with coronavirus.

One of them, Roni, honoured the woman in a Facebook post on Monday.

“Mama, my love, you are my life, Mama, you are my comfort and my life, Mama,” he wrote.
