COVID-19 Victoria: Man in his 20s among 14 deaths

A man in his 20s is among the 14 people to die from the virus in Victoria - becoming Australia’s youngest victim of the pandemic.

Rapid testing blitz launched across regional Vic today

There have been 372 new COVID-19 cases confirmed in Victoria in the past 24 hours, and 14 new deaths.

Daniel Andrews has opened his presser with some numbers on the latest figures and stats.

Among the 14 deaths was a man in his 20s – Australia’s youngest victim from the deadly virus.

Some more figures:

• 16,234 confirmed cases overall, including 372 today.

• 289 Victorians have passed away since the pandemic began, including 14 today.

• The 14 deaths today include a man in his 20s, three women and two men in their 80s, and four men and four women in their 90s.

• 12 of the fatalities are linked to aged care outbreaks.

• 659 Victorians are in hospital, including 41 in ICU. 26 of those 41 are on a ventilator.

• The state has conducted 1,914,474 tests since the pandemic began, including 18,908 yesterday.

It comes after the state recorded 278 new cases on Thursday and eight deaths. On Wednesday Victoria has 410 new infections and a record 21 deaths.

The highest daily increase was 725 new cases last week.
