Coronavirus Sydney: Map shows every covid case by postcode

It’s been two weeks since the latest Sydney covid outbreak began, and official data shows the rapid march of the virus beyond the eastern suburbs.

Covid: Delta strain more infectious and hitting young people harder

With millions of people in Greater Sydney in lockdown and cases linked to the state’s latest covid outbreak growing steadily, new data has revealed the rapid spread of the virus through Sydney.

The latest outbreak in NSW stands at 171 cases since it began on June 16 with a limousine driver from Sydney’s eastern suburbs testing positive to the virus after transporting international flight crew.

In the past fortnight, cases linked to the highly-contagious delta variant have spread across Sydney beyond the eastern suburbs, with data from NSW Health revealing there are active cases stretching to the southwest in Mt Annan, Harrington Park and Currans Hill, and to the northwest in Kellyville, Kellyville Ridge and Beaumont Hills.

On Tuesday, the state recorded 22 new cases of the virus to 8pm, with all linked to previously known cases. In a positive sign for Greater Sydney’s 14-day lockdown ending on time, 11 of these cases were in full isolation throughout their infectious period.

Of the 171 active cases in the state, 160 are linked to the Bondi cluster.

Exposure sites across the region continue to grow, with health authorities concerned about a positive case in a 24-year-old female who worked as a student nurse at Fairfield Hospital and Royal North Shore Hospital while infectious for several days.

It is not yet known how she contracted the virus and urgent contact tracing is underway after one of her household contacts also tested positive.
