Three schools in Sydney’s west have been forced to close for cleaning after four students were diagnosed with COVID-19.

NSW records seven new COVID-19 infections

Three schools in Western Sydney have been forced to close after four students tested positive for COVID-19.

All four of the cases are associated with the Thai Rock cluster, with two also linked to the Our Lady of Lebanon church.

Two of the cases attended Cerdon College in Merrylands, one case attended Mary Immaculate Catholic Primary School in Bossley Park and one case attended Freeman Catholic College at Bonnyrigg Heights.

All three schools will remain closed while cleaning and contact tracing is underway.

“Close contacts of all the cases are being notified to undertake 14 day self-isolation after their last contact with the case and undertake testing for COVID-19 if they develop symptoms,” NSW health said in a statement.

“All other children, staff, and families of those who attend or work at these schools are encouraged to seek testing.”

Today NSW announced that seven new COVID-19 cases were recorded overnight, bringing the state’s total to 3451.

Six of the new cases were linked to the Thai Rock restaurant cluster in Stockland Mall Wetherill Park, bringing the total number of cases in the outbreak to 52.

The other new case had no identified source.

With growing cases of community transmission across the state, NSW Health has called for residents to “redouble their efforts” to stop the spread of the virus.
