At least 10 cases of Covid-19 have been linked to a popular pub in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, just weeks after the NSW capital exited its four-month lockdown.

Anyone who attended the Tea Gardens Hotel in Bondi – the suburb where the state’s latest outbreak first began in June – from 7.30pm until closing on Saturday, October 23 is now considered a casual contact, according to an exposure site alert from NSW Health.

That means you should get tested immediately and self-isolate until you’ve received a negative result.

Patrons who attended the venue earlier in the day should monitor for symptoms.

Authorities said the confirmed cases either attended the pub while infectious or acquired the virus while there.

“NSW Health has individually contacted people who attended the venue at the times when an infectious person was there,” the department said.

“Casual contacts should get tested, even if they have had a test recently. If you receive a negative result, please continue to monitor for symptoms and if any symptoms appear, get tested and isolate again.

“This advice must be followed, even if you are fully vaccinated.

“The Hotel has been referred to the Office of Liquor and Gaming to review compliance with Covid-Safe measures.”

The alert comes as NSW reported 268 new local infections on Friday, and ahead of travel between Greater Sydney and the state’s regions reopening.

From Monday, November 1, hospitality venue bookings will no longer be capped, quarantine requirements will be removed for fully-vaccinated overseas arrivals, and the caps for overseas arrivals will be lifted.

Fully vaccinated returnees currently in quarantine will also be allowed to leave isolation.
