UK top dogs are best in show, but chunky

AN estimated 25 per cent of the dogs in Britain's biggest dog show are too heavy, often just like their human owners, research shows.

THERE was too much puppy fat on about one quarter of the top dogs in Britain's biggest dog show, according to a new analysis that provides more evidence the UK's obesity epidemic is widening to the country's canines.

RESEARCHERS analysed nearly 1000 photos of dogs between 2001 and 2013 which placed in the top five at Crufts, the UK's national dog show.
