THE death toll from a heatwave in southern Pakistan has passed 800 as hospitals struggle to cope with thousands more victims of the soaring temperatures.

AT least 780 people had died in Karachi since Friday, said Jam Mehtab Dahar, the health minister in the southern province of Sindh.
