Iran insists on nuclear rights

IRAN says it's committed to the nuclear non-proliferation treaty and wants to maintain its nuclear rights.

IRAN says there will be a swift solution to the nuclear dispute if its nuclear rights are acknowledged by a group of six world powers.

Iran has regularly denied accusations from the West that it has a nuclear weapons program, insisting its nuclear activities are for peaceful purposes.

The five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council and Germany will restart nuclear negotiations with Iran in Almaty, Kazakhstan, on February 26.

"There would be a swift solution if the 5+1 group came up at the next nuclear meeting with goodwill as well as suitable and balanced initiatives, such as acknowledgment of Iran's nuclear rights," Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said on Tuesday.

"Just as we are committed to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, we also want to maintain our rights according to the same treaty," he said.

Any threats or pressures in the talks would definitely not work, he added.
