US first lady Michelle Obama is using a trip to Britain and Italy to promote girls' education and support for military families.
US First Lady Michelle Obama has visited a London school at the start of a European tour as she announced plans for $US200 million ($A257.57 million) in programs to promote girls' education worldwide.
"I'M here because girls like you impress me and inspire me," Obama told pupils at Mulberry School for Girls in east London on Tuesday, ahead of a trip to Downing Street, where she will have tea with Prime Minister David Cameron and his wife Samantha.
