Guatemalan president may face charges

THE Guatamalan president could face criminal charges over allegations of criminal conspiracy if lawmakers rescind his immunity from prosecution.

GUATEMALA'S Supreme Court says it is prepared to consider a criminal complaint against President Otto Perez Molina.

THE decision was unanimous, though lawmakers would first have to retire the head of state's immunity from prosecution, Chief Justice Jose Baquiax told reporters on Wednesday.
