Germany breaks heat record at 40.3 degrees
A NUMBER of drownings have been reported across Germany as a heatwave left the country sweltering through its hottest day on record.
A WEEKEND heatwave in Germany broke the national record for the highest recorded temperature.
THE thermometer in Kitzingen in the southern state of Bavaria read 40.3 degrees on Sunday, breaking the 2003 record by 0.1 degrees, the German Weather Service said.
