Aussie man dies in head-on car crash in Samoa
AN Australian tourist is among four siblings killed in a head-on car crash in Samoa where the group had been for a family reunion.
Paulo Alesana, 57, was killed along with his sister, Valelia Faofua, 64, who is from New Zealand, and their US-based brothers Atonio Alefosio, 62, and Manuele Alefosio, according to media reports.
They died in the crash on Tuesday in Aleipata District in the eastern part of Upolu island.
They had been in the area for a family reunion.
Initial indications are that the siblings' van collided head-on with a logging truck.
A fifth person, a 30-year-old niece based in Samoa, is in a critical condition in hospital, the NZ Herald says.
Police are still investigating.
