Woman has scalp ripped off in horrific machinery accident
A woman has undergone a 10-hour operation after her scalp was ripped off in a horrifying accident. Warning: Graphic
A woman has had her scalp reattached after it was ripped off in a horrific farm accident, in India.
Kavitha, 27, had to undergo a gruelling ten-hour operation to have the skin reattached to her skull.
She suffered the horrific injuries after her hair became caught in an aluminium roof sheet machine.
Lead surgeon, Doctor Kumaresan and nine other medical workers carried out the miracle surgery.
Kavitha’s natural hair will now be able to grow back and likely cover the scarring because of their efforts.
“We then decided to carry out microvascular plastic surgery [after an examination] on Kavitha to replant the scalp,” Dr Kumaresan said.
“She will get her normal hair growth in a few months.”
The 27-year-old has large cuts surrounding her forehead and a clear scar where the skin has been reattached.
In her post-op pictures she offered up a smile behind a blue face mask.
Some of her hair is already beginning to grow back, as promised by her doctor.
An American man suffered a similar injury in October after he was attacked by a black leopard.
Dwight Turner, 50, said he had to undergo multiple surgeries following the savage attack.
His scalp was left “hanging from his head and his right ear was torn in half”, according to reports.
The incident took place at an enclosure in South Florida with Mr Turner now pursuing legal action.
