Woman ‘dumps newborn baby inside plastic bag just two hours after giving birth’
A WOMAN in China has been arrested after putting her newborn baby inside a plastic bag, dumping it and leaving it for dead.
A WOMAN has been arrested for putting her two-hour-old newborn baby inside a pink plastic bag and then abandoning it in her village where it later died.
The 20-year-old mother, identified only as Wang, is thought to have been uncertain about who the child’s father was, and having no stable income, decided to dump it.
Reports from Wangjiaoqiao village, located in the city of Kunming, capital of southwestern China’s Yunnan Province, said the abandoned pink plastic bag was spotted by locals who were shocked to find the newborn inside.
The child, whose gender was not reported, was taken to police, who drove the infant to a hospital for emergency treatment.
However, despite a reported four hours of collective efforts by doctors and nurses, the child was unable to be saved.
Investigators who watched surveillance footage from the village discovered the child was carried across town by a woman wearing a red coat and black trousers who later discarded the bag a distance from her home.
After police located her, she reportedly confessed to abandoning the child just two hours after she gave birth, but she gave no clear reason behind her actions, refusing to answer questions regarding the infant’s father.
If found to have murdered her baby before discarding it, Wang will be subject to further charges on top of those she currently faces.
Last month, a Sydney woman who had dumped her baby in a drain back in 2014 was sentenced to three years and six months in jail.
The baby was found alive five days after he was left in the drain besidea highway at Quakers Hill, after passing cyclists heard him cry.
