A TEENAGE boy in China has been detained by police and is suspected of murdering three siblings before dumping their bodies into a disused well.
The 13-year-old suspect Shen Shichang is thought to be homeless and was spotted begging for food at the victims’ home shortly after the two sisters and brother went missing.
The bodies of the victims Huang Dazhen, Huang Huochang, and Huang Damei — aged 8, 7, and 4 — were found at the bottom of the dry and mud-filled well following a 40-hour search conducted by his family and the residents of Shiqiao village, which is in Cenxi City of South China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
According to Huang Jian, father of the older daughter, son, and younger daughter, the trio went missing one day while they were playing on their own.
After having not heard from them for several hours, the village began to search for the siblings, fearing that they may have been kidnapped.
Their disappearance remained a mystery until local villagers found one of the girls’ skirts lying near the well.
Peering into the deep hole, the search party then found the three kids dead inside.
After local police began investigating what was a likely triple murder, witnesses pointed them towards Shen, who was seen wandering around the area asking for food.
The authorities quickly tracked down the teenager who was still in the village and have detained him for further investigation.
The motives behind his apparent killing of the three young children are currently unclear, with the now distraught dad Huang Jian, reportedly nearly 60 years old, saying that Shen had come to his home asking for food not long after he discovered that his kids were missing.
If found guilty of the killings, Chinese law states that Shen, who is a minor under the age of 14, will not bear any criminal punishment for his offences.
