Police investigate the alleged abuse of preschool children at a kindergarten
WATCH: Horrific CCTV footage shows the moment a teacher allegedly abused a preschooler in South Korea as other children panic.
POLICE are investigating the alleged abuse of preschool children by some teachers at a kindergarten in South Korea’s southern city of Busan.
Police in Busan said on Thursday that they had began probes into the child abuse case after receiving a report on December 16 that a teacher had beaten students of her class on several occasions, while practising them to prepare for an arts event of the kindergarten.
A closed-circuit television footage from the preschool shows that the teacher was kicking a student like a football, with other children panicked and flustered not knowing what to do.
Another type of child abuse by the teacher was also captured in the CCTV imagery.
The police said the number of mistreated children in the kindergarten is estimated to be more than 10 under the class teacher.
They added that further investigation is being carried out to look into the rest of the kindergarten to see if there have been any other offences possibly committed by the teachers at the preschool.
“It’s all our faults. We apologise for that. We will take steps to stop this kind of thing from happening ever again after consulting with the Office of Education,” a senior official at the kindergarten told YTN.
