Four dead in 37-vehicle pileup in China

SHOCKING images from China show the scene of a deadly 37-vehicle pileup — the majority of cars crushed by semi-trailers.

FOUR people have been killed and 40 more have been taken to hospital after a 37-vehicle pileup in China.

Police say heavy fog and a slippery surface are to blame for the accident on a section of highway in Shanxi Province, north China, on Monday morning.

Aerial views of the accident scene show many cars were crushed by semi-trailers.

Another pileup was reported in Beijing on Monday. Fortunately nobody was harmed in that one.

In November last year, four people were killed in a 47-vehicle pileup on another section of highway in Shanxi Province. That was caused by low visibility.
