At the time of the attack, President Bush was attending Booker Elementary School in Florida.

This became a defining moment in his Presidency, criticised for his almost-seven-minutes of silence while New York burned under the flames of the World Trade Centre.

The President was informed of the attack before he sat down with the Booker Elementary students at 9am, but at the time was under the impression the attack was an “accident”, reports Mr Fleischer.

By 9:03am, United Flight 175 crashed into the South Tower.

Two minutes later, at 9:05am, White House Chief of Staff Andy Card whispers in President Bush’s ear, “America is under attack”.

From 9:05am to 9:12am, the President of the United States sat in that classroom, reading My Pet Goat, as America watched the World Trade Centre envelop into a cloud of smoke.

Now, Mr Fleischer reveals the insider’s truth, as the world wondered what was going on in those seven minutes of silence and beyond.
