Virgin Australia drops $45 flight sale

Flights across Virgin's domestic and international network have taken a huge tumble in one of their best sales this year.

Virgin Australia has knocked it out of the park with their The Virgin Australia Sale which sees flights slashed by up to 25 per cent.

All up there are 35 destinations you can take off to, with domestic hotspots Byron Bay, Gold Coast and Hamilton Island and popular international destinations Queenstown, Fiji and Bali, all included in the mix.

The cheapest fares run between Sydney and Ballina (Byron Bay) at $45 each way, which is the lowest that the carrier has dropped fares to in a sale this year.

Hot on its heels are Sydney to Hamilton Island from $109 each way and Melbourne to Sydney from $95 each way.

Those keen to dust off their passports can jet set to Queenstown from $425 return or hightail it to the beaches of Denpasar (Bali) from $489 return or Nadi (Fiji) from $569 return.

These starter prices are for Lite fares , which include your seat and 7kgs of carry-on luggage. Upgrades are available to Choice fares, which includes seat selection and 23kgs of checked luggage, or to a Flex fare, which includes seat selection, 23kgs of checked luggage and the flexibility to change or cancel your flight.

Travel dates for this sale range from April 30, 2025 to February 11, 2026, giving you the option to escape the Aussie winter, capitalise on the spring shoulder season or bask in the summer sunshine.

Something to note is that peak dates, including public and school holidays, are excluded from the sale. For anyone itching for a late summer getaway though, there are seats available from January 11, 2026 to February 11, 2026 on selected routes.

These sale fares are available to book from now until 11.59pm AEST Monday 26, 2025, unless sold out prior.

What day does Virgin Australia have sales?

Virgin Australia runs a weekly Happy Hour sale every Thursday from 4-11pm AEDT. This can include anything from a destination specific deal to a network-wide sale. You can sign up to Virgin Australia V-mail to be notified when Happy Hour starts.

Virgin Australia also runs regular "The Sale" events throughout the year which are larger and longer sales.

How early do flights go on sale?

Generally, flights are available to book a year in advance. If you're planning to travel during peak season, this is particularly helpful to know, as these seats often sell out and increase in price quickly.

How else can I save on Virgin flights?

Virgin Australia's Early Bird fares are an easy way to save that much more on your flights. Book at least one month in advance to save up to 10 per cent off your airfare.

Is Virgin Australia pet-friendly?

In March 2024, Virgin Australia announced its intention to offer pet-friendly flights. Since then, they've been working closely with regulators, industry partners and stakeholder groups to offer "a compliant, safe and comfortable experience for guests with or without a pet" however, no date has been set for its launch yet.
