Woman fighting for life after being pulled from the water unconscious on the Gold Coast

A woman in her 20s is in a critical condition after being underwater for 10 minutes following a “traumatic” accident.

A young woman is fighting for her life in hospital after she was pulled unconscious from the water on the Gold Coast.

Paramedics rushed the woman in her 20s to Gold Coast University Hopsital in a critical condition after she was pulled from the Broadwater on Marine Parade in Southport at around 4:40pm.

The woman was with friends before jumping into the water where she then “disappeared”, paramedics say.

It’s understood she was underwater for around 10 minutes before she was pulled from the water, where she was given assistance by members of the public

“Bystanders started CPR prior to our arrival, QAS has attempted to continue that resuscitation,” paramedic David Morgan said.

“Quite a traumatic event and for someone to just go missing quite quickly like that, a lot of people were distressed.”
