‘Major’ delays as tracks flooded across city circle
Workers have been warned of a “cooked” commute home after wet weather causes a nightmare breakdown on a major CBD track.
Sydney Trains has warned commuters that their journey home will be “significantly delayed” after the wild weather hit the train tracks in the CBD.
Flooding on tracks at Central has caused a major headache across the T1, T2, T3, T4, T5 and T8 lines, with some trains delayed for nearly 2 hours according to TripView.
Commuters have slammed the delays as “ridiculous” and ”an absolute joke”, with some reporting being stuck for over an hour on stand-still trains.
i’ve been on the train for over an hour from concord west to town hall… this is an absolute joke! i’m so sick of excuse after excuse… #sydneytrains

Why can't Sydney trains cope with weather?
Why are tracks flooding at central?!?!
You do realise businesses don't just stop running because of rain.

Huge queues have hit major stations such as Central, Town Hall and Wynyard as peak hour train traffic hits, with few trains arriving to clear the backlog.
“After getting trampled on the platform at North Sydney station I’ve been on a train from North Sydney for exactly one hour... It’s just arrived at Town Hall,” Zoe Hunt said on Twitter.
“We understand your frustration and we are working hard to resolve the delays,” Sydney Trains said in a tweet to customers.
“Your travel time will take longer than usual and service gaps will occur on these lines,” another tweet read.
Commuters were quick to point out how Sydney‘s train system is often affected by wet weather, with some saying that “a drop of rain” can leave the rail network at a ”standstill”.
It‘s not known just how long it will take for services to return to normal.
