Australian Federal Police responding to security incident at Brisbane Airport
UPDATE: Runway reopened after woman drives car through a fence and on to the tarmac at Brisbane Airport.
A WOMAN has been arrested after she drove her car through a fence and on to the tarmac at Brisbane Airport.
Police arrested a woman shortly after the security incident, which happened about 10.45pm on Tuesday.
The woman has since been transported to the Royal Brisbane Hospital.
The Australian Federal Police have released a statement saying the security incident remains current.
“The Australian Federal Police (AFP) can confirm it responded to a breach of the perimeter fence at Brisbane Airport on Tuesday 7 July 2014,” the statement said.
“The matter is currently ongoing and it would not be appropriate to comment further at this stage.”
A spokeswoman from Brisbane Airport Cooperation earlier confirmed that all arrivals and departures were suspended while the AFP dealt with the matter.

Some flights were diverted to the Gold Coast.
At about 11.20, BAC tweeted that the runway had been reopened and flights would resume as soon as possible.
