Train services have been disrupted and a dozen people have escaped serious harm after a train hit a car in Melbourne.
A dozen people aboard a V/Line train have had a lucky escape after hitting a car that had been pushed onto the train tracks in Melbourne’s west.
Police believe a white truck hit a white Hyundai sedan at Truganina, causing the sedan to be pushed onto the train tracks about 11.30am on Monday.
The car remained on the tracks, before being clipped by a V-line train minutes later.
The Ballarat line train, carrying 10 passengers, a driver and conductor, was hit on Hopkins Road.
The driver and passengers from the train were uninjured and completed their journey on a replacement bus, police said.
The sedan driver, a 23-year-old Rockbank woman, was uninjured and able to leave the vehicle.
She was taken to hospital by ambulance for observation.
The truck driver, a 42-year-old Maddingley man, was uninjured.
He allegedly tested positive to a drug test and is assisting police with their inquiries.
V/Line said it had brought in buses to replace trains, with services impacted over the afternoon.
Passengers travelling between Wendouree and Southern Cross will travel via replacement coaches between Wendouree and Sunshine.
They will then travel via metropolitan services between Sunshine and Southern Cross to complete their journey.
Commuters are asked to allow an extended journey time of up to 90 minutes.
Police say they are continuing to investigate the exact circumstances of the incident, which unfolded on the line between Caroline Springs and Rockbank.
