Video footage shot in 2011 by Amir Ahmed from Dubai shows the heart stopping moment when the usually agile predator lost its footing and tumbled into the vehicle.
The tourists had been tracking a coalition of cheetahs (that’s the correct group noun, trivia fans) when one of the animals climbed up on the vehicle.
The big cats often seek high vantage points to search for prey.
Although cheetahs are not as feared as other African predators such as lions and leopards, attacks on humans are not unknown. Comedian Adam Sandler was attacked by a cheetah while on safari in 2013.
Fortunately in this case, the fumbling feline sought only to get out of the vehicle as soon as it fell in.
