United States Department of Homeland Security issues warning of shoe-bomb attack on international airline flights

THE UNITED States has issued a warning to all overseas airlines flying to the country of a terror attack involving explosives hidden in shoes.

THE UNITED States has issued a warning to all overseas airlines flying to the country of a terror attack involving explosives hidden in shoes.

The Department of Homeland Security issued the warning based on what it called “credible intelligence”.

Airlines have been urged to pay extra attention to flights from overseas into the United States. Passengers can expect increased scrutiny in pat downs and full-body screening.

The bulletin also urges security screeners to use explosive trace detection swabs to check all shoes - even those in carry-on bags.

The officials say the threat information was not specific to any particular airline, country, or time.

“It’s a reminder that we are under constant threat and an advisory to airlines be on their ‘A’ game,” another official said to be familiar with the threat intelligence told NBC news.
