Wild moment great white shark launches at boat
A TV star was onboard his boat when he was suddenly surrounded by five great white sharks and what happened next was wild.
‘Below Deck’ star Colin MacRae filmed his wild encounter with several great white sharks while sailing off the shores of Stewart Island in New Zealand.
The Kiwi sailor was on his salvaged boat, Parlay Revival, when one shark launched at the vessel, biting into the back of the vessel, with Colin describing the moment as “unbelievable”.
“Hands down the craziest thing I’ve seen on my boat,” he said in a caption alongside footage of the encounter.
“Five great white sharks circling and biting the boat off Stewart Island, New Zealand.
“A local wants to take us diving for Paua tomorrow, which is disconcerting after seeing these monster,” he said, in reference to their size.
“But I heard they are friendly as long as you don’t touch their private parts…” he joked.
In the clip, that has been viewed more than half a million times, several people can be heard screaming with some yelling “oh my God” as the beasts circle the boat.
The extraordinary footage shows just how close the sharks got with one biting into the back of Colin’s Parlay.
“Oh my God we’ve just sailed to Stewart Island and we just had a great white shark bite the back of the parlay,” he says in the clip.
As the sharks circle the boat, Colin can be heard yelling, “Look out girls, watch your feet”.
“This is unbelievable,” he continues.
Colin managed to get wild footage of the sharks under water using a Go Pro stick and close up shots of the sharks with their jaws wide open as they tried to take chunks out of his boat.
His clip has attracted hundreds of comments with many amazed by the footage.
“Gorgeous animals and very misunderstood,” one person wrote.
“Whoa!! Just another day on the sea huh!” a second person said, while a third added: “THIS IS WILD!”
The 34-year-old longtime sailor and chief engineer on super yachts has a YouTube sailing channel called Parlay Revival.
However, he is best known for his appearance on Bravo TV show, Below Deck, having generated just over 500,000 Instagram followers due to his popularity on the series.
