Every tourist loses it over this 15min ‘car ride’

Tourists who visit this European country have no idea this exists and whenever they discover it, they’re in disbelief.

An Aussie couple had no idea what was going on when Siri lead them onto a train carriage – with their car.

Liv Bruce, from Sydney and her partner Pat have been travelling through Europe for the past month.

During their recent trip to Switzerland, the pair encountered something rather “confusing” when they were directed to drive onto a train carriage.

Their clip was shared on the popular Pubity Instagram page, attracting a massive 17.3 million views.

In it, Liv can be heard asking Pat, who is the driver’s seat, “what is going on?”

“I actually don’t know what to do,” a panicked Pat responds.

Liv, who is in the passenger seat and filming the experience, shows off the stunning surrounding mountainous views before turning her phone to Pat, who then follows the cars in front onto a sheltered carriage.

“Siri, where have you taken us?” Liv asks.

“I just thought it was a toll booth, but no, we’re on a train.

“It feels like were on a rollercoaster,” she jokes as the carriage goes dark.

The pair were on the Lötschberg Car Train, that goes between Kandersteg (Bernese Oberland) and Goppenstein (Valais). It takes just 15 minutes and is the shortest way from the Swiss midlands to Valais and back.

Speaking to news.com.au, Liv said she found the whole experience quite funny.

“We had been driving around from Munich to Switzerland so we had gone through a couple of toll booths already,” she explained.

“This particular day we went for a hike to Oeschinen Lake and we were on our way to the closest town to Zurich which you can drive to (Täsch), so I was just following Siri.

“I wasn’t really paying attention when we came to a gate which looked like a toll booth. We didn’t see any signs for a train. We paid the lady because we had been through a lot (of toll booths) already and all of a sudden we were driving onto a train.”

Liv said they were “super confused” but just went with it and enjoyed the 10-15 minute ride. “We didn’t know what to expect but we pulled in and had a great ride on the train, we went through a tunnel and came out the other side about 17km later,” Liv said.

“It was super fun overall and a great way to avoid a long drive around the mountain which I learnt from the comments. It’s all part of travel, these things.”

According to the operator’s site, passengers remain in their vehicles during the trip.

“Excuse me, would you like a vehicle for your vehicle??” a shocked user wrote, while a third simply wrote: “Everything in Switzerland looks magical.”

Another tourist was also amazed, saying: “Oow what a feeling of being in a car and doing nothing while you are still moving? Dude even had a dessert.”

One traveller who also experienced the train car said: “It was really unusual and fun at the end when I was there my first time.”

Even a Swiss local didn’t know “it was a thing” up until a year ago.

“I told Google maps to just pick the shortest route and it went from 2.5h around the alps to 1h, through the alps,” they wrote.

“I thought it’s a regular tunnel, took the path and ended up atfront (sic) of a one way booth where a lady told me to pay up. Went through and found the damn train at front of me. And I’m Swiss! Was baffled (sic).”

TiKTok is also awash with clips of other travellers’ experience on train cars throughout Switzerland, including Furka that goes between Oberwald (Valais) and Realp (near Andermatt).

“I can’t get over this,” one person wrote about their ride as they showed off the picturesque views.
