Tourist unleashes over cheap hotel room
A man claimed he stayed in the worst hotel at a tourist hotspot, which has left fellow travellers shocked – but some say he got what he paid for.
A British man has claimed he stayed in the worst hotel in Bulgaria, but some have said he got what he paid for.
The tourist posted a scathing video of his Bulgarian accommodation, which cost him a tiny £10 ($A18) per night.
The man planned to have a relaxing stay at the port city of Varna, on the Black Sea coast, which sees more than one million visitors descend upon its beaches every summer, The Sun reports.
However, things hit a snag when he got to his hotel.
He subsequently filmed a short clip and posted it on TikTok under the handle @downtherapids, taking viewers on a tour of the accommodation.
The footage painted a grim reality with graffiti-covered walls, a dingy living area and cramped spaces.
He said: “So I have come to Bulgaria and I’m in a place called Varna and it’s the third largest city in the country.
“And it’s official, I have booked the worst hotel room that Bulgaria has to offer – and it’s not even a hotel.
“Now I thought I was getting a right bargain, I paid £10 ($A18) a night for this and I’ve just rang up my friend who is Bulgarian and showed him around.
“He was like, ‘Where the hell are you and what have you booked?’ And he advised for me to get out and book a proper hotel.”
The man then began climbing the staircase as he tried to find the bathroom.
It was a small room with the shower nozzle directly above an electrical outlet and toilet on the wall opposite.
He said: “This is what I’m supposed to shower in … very dodgy toilet, no toilet paper.
“That’s going to get a bit messy later.”
He continued up another flight of stairs to his bedroom.
As he entered, the true horror was exposed.
He said: “This is literally my room guys, somehow in this tiny space they’ve managed to fit two beds in.
“There’s like a random chair here and the guy was like, ‘This is your window,’ but it doesn’t really look like a window, it’s just a flap in the wall.”
There was also a makeshift heater the size of sandwich press, a radio from the Soviet era, a plate of chestnuts and a water bottle with yellow liquid in it.
He said: “Oh what is this, it looks like a bottle of wee. I don’t even want to know what is in that. I can’t believe I just touched that.
“So yeah to be honest, I think I am going to pack up my stuff and get the hell out of here.”
The video went gangbusters with more than 480,000 views.
However, some said he got what he paid for.
“Bro paid £10 but wants to have it all like a £100 hotel,” one TikTok user said.
“Did you really think paying that amount would get you something decent? I don’t understand,” another wrote.
“How do people even find these places?” a third asked.
“Get what you pay for,” someone else said.
