TikTok flight attendant reveals food rules for pilots on flights
A flight attendant has revealed a little-known fact about what pilots eat during flights, and the strict food rule they must always follow.
Are you intrigued by all the things that go on behind the scenes on a flight? Well TikTok is the place for you.
There’s a wide array of airline staff who have TikTok accounts, and who love to spill the tea on the secret systems in place on an aircraft.
One such TikTok fan is Emirates cabin crew member Daniboy, who has racked up an impressive 232,000 followers on the platform. She recently revealed an interesting fact about a pilot’s menu during a flight.
She begins the clip saying: “Did you know the captain and first officer are not allowed to eat the same meal during the flight?”
“This is to ensure that if the meal is contaminated and the captain or first officer gets sick after eating it, then the flight deck that had the different meal should still be OK and able to operate the aircraft.”
This was verified by a pilot, who wished to remain anonymous, who told the Expressthat pilots eat different meals to each other. They are also able to bring their own meals if they wish.
“If one of the pilots gets ill, crews have a specific emergency landing strategy. All pilots are trained to handle a ‘pilot incapacitation event’ where the other pilot is unable to continue their duties in-flight,” he said.
Pilots at the controls should also take their meals at different times – just in case there is a broader food contamination issue on the flight. Speaking of things you should and shouldn’t eat during a flight? Another TikTok flight attendant went viral when she revealed the things you should never consume on a plane … trust us, this one will stay with you.
