New Zealand supermodel Rachel Hunter has revealed the question she was asked at the border that brought her to tears.
Posting to her 123k followers on Instagram, Hunter shared a selfie while “tucked up in bed” after a day filled with “tears of relief”.
The Kiwi model, who flew into New Zealand on Monday night, said she was “forever grateful” for the border frontline crew, especially after asking how she was upon arrival.
“I was asked a question at the border that meant the world to me … how is your mental health?” Hunter wrote on her Instagram.
“Tears welled up in my eyes, tears kept coming. This is so important as we all know, or some are learning and acknowledging this. Please please take care of (your)self and be there for others.”
Hunter, a mum-of-two, TV host and author, received thousands of comments welcoming her home to New Zealand amid the global coronavirus pandemic.
“Welcome home! You’re safe here,” one person wrote.
“We feel very grateful to the frontline workers, so we get to live the way we do. Safe for now,” another added.
“We are so very lucky. Have an awesome time while here.”
Like Australia, travellers to New Zealand from all countries must complete a 14-day stay in managed hotel quarantine.
Visitors and residents arriving into New Zealand are legally required to obtain a Managed Isolation Allocation system voucher confirming a place in a managed isolation facility before boarding a flight.
Travellers coming from the United Kingdom or United States must also have a negative COVID-19 test result before departing their port.
