A woman on holidays has been left fuming over a bizarre hotel act to claim sunbeds.

'Un-Australian’ hotel act called out

A woman staying at a luxe hotel while on holiday in Queensland has been left shocked by a “selfish” and “insane” act by fellow guests.

In a now viral TikTok, Emily Cooper, from Melbourne, was staying at the Instagram famous Calile Hotel in Brisbane when she filmed other hotel patrons attempting to reserve pool sunbeds at the crack of dawn.

The video shows people engaging in “sunbed wars” by putting towels and other personal belongings on daybeds as early as 5.45am.

Hotel guets are seen coming and going from the pool to reserve the sunbeds by placing their belongings on them, with all of the seats taken by 6.52am.

When asked by a TikTok user why Ms Cooper was also so early at the pool, she replied: “We learned the hard way the day before that if you don’t do this crazy s*** to get a sun bed, you won’t be anywhere near the pool!”

“I’ve watched people leave their towels in the middle of the day for three hours ... someone could have used it in that time, come back and sat somewhere else. It’s so selfish,” one user said.

Another said: “S***s me when people leave towels there to reserve them. I love bogans because they just come and move them and take the spots. Best entertainment”

Many were perplexed at the idea of getting up so early during a relaxing holiday.

“Who is getting up this early on hols?” one user asked.

Another agreed and said: “This is insane!”

The Calile Hotel has a policy on their daybeds on their website: “Day beds are available from 6am until 9pm and cannot be pre-booked.

“If day beds are left unoccupied for longer than 15 minutes, they will be reallocated by our pool service team to any guests waiting for day beds.”
